Boondocking (also called “Dispersed Camping”) can be a great way for RVers to save money while living on the road, but we weren’t expecting it to be so difficult in Alaska. Although 65% of the State is federal land, Alaska is seriously lacking when it comes to free camping sites for RVers, and those that are available can be difficult to access and are questionable when it comes to camping safely.
We live and work in our Safari Condo Alto F1743 Expedition and almost exclusively rely on boondocking for accommodations, allowing us to avoid cramped and expensive campgrounds.
