Edit: Please note I got the booking window dates wrong here, d'oh. If you're booking December, 11 months prior would be January not February!
Pretty recently the DVC Guide assigned to me told me I had to wait until my booking date was within 1 year prior to my next Use Year to borrow points. This is patently false!! Like any good millennial, I complained on social media. Through those posts, I found out a lot of folks have been told the same junk information or just don't really understand how borrowing works. We've gone over the basics of borrowing Vacation Points on the channel before, but this video will do more of a deep dive. And importantly we will do a very concrete example, so hopefully once you understand that you can apply those principles to your imagined trip and know for sure if you will be allowed to borrow Vacation Points or not.
Being able to borrow Vacation Points is a huge selling point of Disney Vacation Club in my opinion, and it not being so heavily restricted (as I was told by my Guide) is a key feature. I am basically always borrowing for trips well, well in advance -- that's how I make a smaller contract work!

At the end of the day, borrowing eligibility is based on the Use Year of your vacation trip dates (not your booking dates)!
