Botulism is a neuroparalytic condition caused by the botulinum toxin. In this lesson we discuss what botulism is, what causes it, risk factors for getting it, the pathogenesis and mechanism of action of botulinum toxin, types of botulism illness (foodborne botulism, infant botulism, wound botulism), signs and symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and prevention.
