Bowling must have become popular in Japan after 1952. That's because that was the year that the Tokyo Bowling Center opened in Aoyama, Minato Ward. Even before that, bowling alleys were set up on the US military bases that occupied Japan, and bowling pins were bounced around inside the bases. In Koza, Okinawa, which is home to the largest air force base in the Far East, US military personnel made matching bowling shirts for their teams and enjoyed playing bowling. Looking back at the original embroidery drawings that Mugi Store shares with us, we get a glimpse of the kind of embroidery they put on their shirts.
