►There's no better time to work on the engine and drivetrain than when everything else is out of the way. With the Cayman back from the cage builder and chassis planning underway, "easy wins" were ahead, looking at the drivetrain. Transforming the 987 into a rally-capable competitor is more of a suspension and reliability-related challenge, not so much a performance one, so the engine wasn't getting any crazy custom work but some choice bolt-on bits to ensure good running.
Some of the modifications, like the flywheel and sump upgrades, add reliability and performance benefits, while others, like the Soul Performance exhaust system and IPD plenum, are strictly about sounding good and moving a bit quicker. Unfortunately, not all modifications go on more straightforwardly than others, and even the smallest physical problem can make for a considerable headache.
