I am delighted to be bringing you another tutorial for Oro Rosa Patterns, the Brentwood Backpack!
This is a convertible backpack, measuring 10" W x 11.5” H x 5" D. It can be worn on the back or as a crossbody and features the signature Oro Rosa grab handle. It has two exterior slip pockets, two exterior zipper pockets, an interior slip pocket and interior zipper pocket. The large main compartment is closed with a double pull zipper.
This is an intermediate pattern but I take you through every step in this video so you can confidently create your own beautiful bag. It is assumed in the tutorial that your pattern pieces are cut and interfaced with markings from the pattern applied and as such these are not demonstrated. The Brentwood Backpack is designed materials such as vinyl and cork but can be done with woven, and the interior is suited to woven fabrics appropriately interfaced. I am using vinyl for my exterior, cotton woven for my linings, and sewing on a domestic Juki HZL-DX7.
This pattern utilizes rivets and zippers and the base of the bag is bound. The full list of materials and tools can be found in the pattern instructions. If you need further instruction on applying zipper pulls to zipper by the yard please see my video: https://youtu.be/ijli0BGm4vo?si=4akTGpxlLROek-Tl
