These beautiful antique chairs had seen better days—worn wood, missing cane seats, and years of neglect. But with a little patience, craftsmanship, and some good old-fashioned elbow grease, I was able to bring them back to life!
In this video, I take you through the entire restoration process, from stripping and refinishing the wood to carefully adding and securing the cane seats. If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to recane a chair or breathe new life into vintage furniture, this is the perfect project for you!
🔨 Steps in This Restoration:
✔️ Prepping & repairing the chairs
✔️ Sanding and refinishing the wood
✔️ Installing new woven cane seats
✔️ Securing the cane with spline & glue
✔️ The final reveal – before & after!
This project was such a labor of love, and I’m thrilled with how they turned out. Let me know in the comments—would you have kept the original cane or gone with an upholstered seat instead?
