Most Synology Models allow for use of the BTRFS file system, and many users have to choose between BTRFS and EXT4 for the filesystem on their Synology. In this video I go over the choice between the two.
At the end of the day I believe that for NAS use BTRFS is by far the superior option due to is extensive data features.
