Building a Broader Network of Communication by Sabyasachi Mukherjee
Wednesday, 25th September 2024 at 6 pm,
Premchand Roychand Gallery, CSMVS.
This Keynote Lecture was organised as part of the 'Ancient Sculptures: India Egypt Assyria Greece Rome' exhibition. #ancientculptures #CSMVSmumbai
About the Lecture
Building on the success and learnings from the “India and World: A History in Nine Stories” exhibition, the CSMVS has initiated an international project “Ancient World Gallery”, a unique global and educational endeavour that celebrates the collective achievements of the Ancient World. The “ancient world” refers to a period of human history and its environment that shaped world civilisations. This story of human achievement is a collective one, we must not only celebrate the similarities but also respect differences.
The Project emphasises the importance of understanding the interconnectedness of the ancient world through exchange of ideas and material objects. It brings great works of art from other cultures to Mumbai and gives us an opportunity to narrate our shared history through evidences of the past.
The presentation will share the varied research and educational experiments that the Museum had undertaken during the ‘Ancient Sculptures’ exhibition, which helped us build a broader network of global communication for the first time, marking a significant milestone in our international collaborations.
