In this series, my dad and I are going to demonstrate how to build a traditional wooden pirogue. We are building a 14 foot pirogue with the use of douglas fir marine plywood, spanish cedar, and cypress wood. The pattern for this boat is my dad's pattern.

In part one, we scarf plywood (1/4 in) with the use of west systems epoxy. We cut out the sides of the boat, build the blocks, connect the sides and create molds to get the shape of our pirogue. We finish part one by installing the chines. In the next part, we will build the rest of the boat including the bottom, seats, and gunnels.
