Power BI has inbuilt R and Python functionality, which allows creators to write their own code using an embedded editor. This is a means of producing your own custom visuals if you know these languages, without the legwork of having to learn how to do web development.

Vega and Vega-Lite are "visualization grammars" developed by the University of Washington Interactive Data Lab. They use a declarative, JSON-based format and this can also be used to build a range of bespoke visual designs with significantly less effort than coding from scratch.

In this session we’ll introduce the concepts of these languages, and introduce a Power BI visual that gives you access to them so that you can create your own designs.
