In this video Clay Hayes shows the entire primitive bow building process from start to finish. This time we'll be building a wooden recurve bow form a tree and bow hunting with it towards the end of the video. This bow is made from an osage orange tree and backed with elk sinew and snake skins. This process is basically the same for most wooden bows regardless of whether they are a longbow, recurve bow, flatbow or some other design.

The bow building process starts with harvesting and splitting bow staves. Once the staves are dried to an internal moisture content of around 10% or less a drawknife is used to chase a ring on what will be the bow's back.
