It's time to build a ladder that can permanently live down at my fort! Steve keeps taking all the ladders back up to the house, and I need a way to access the roof, so building a bit of a bushcraft ladder was on the list!
Building, or doing anything for that matter, in the thick of winter is a challenge, so although the task of building this ladder isn't really all that difficult, it's all the other things that are the challenge. Our ATV still wasn't running at the time, so I had to walk down to the fort during this time. (doing that in the snow isn't very easy!). Anyway, that is just the way of life this time of year! We have been skiing a ton with all 6 dogs lately, so threw in a few little clips of that! (That's not the easiest thing either! 🤪).
So, what do you all think about the ladder? Initially I wasn't sure this was going to turn out well - but my ability to be picky with the materials available isn't there right now, so my first thought is that this would be a bit of a temporary ladder, then come summer I would build the actual one with better execution. But as soon as I started to take the bark off, I figured I may as well just make the final one and be done with it.
I do like the final product, and think it'll serve its purpose quite well. Also has me thinking of doing something similar at the cliff cabin.
Thanks for watching!
See you in the next one.
