I don't know why it took me so long to do this, but yes you can make lace with buttercream! It may be a little time consuming for a big cake, but it is so worth the time. I hope you enjoy!

Lace Buttercream:
1 cup high ratio or beef based shortening
4 cups sifted powdered sugar
1 tsp clear vanilla
1 to 4 Tbs milk
Cream shortening. Sift the powdered sugar into the shortening. Add vanilla and mix until incorporated. Add enough milk so that it is the consistency of peanut butter.
