In this video, we will discuss the design of a Butterworth response bandstop filter. The bandstop configuration is ideal for eliminating unwanted narrowband noise or interference. We discuss the filter characteristics, derive the design requirements, and step through the full implementation process using Butterworth response theory.
We will realize the bandstop filter by parallel configuration of a Sallen-Key highpass filter circuit (4th order) and Sallen-Key lowpass filter (3rd order). The final design is a 7th order bandstop filter. We will work out our design step by step and verify our calculations using simulations in TINA-TI SPICE.
