BYD’s sub-brand, Denza, is a collaboration between BYD Auto and Mercedes-Benz Group, founded in 2010. Four years later, the brand debuted its first model. Over time, Mercedes-Benz gradually reduced its ownership stake from 50% to 10%, and as of recently, it no longer has any ownership in Denza. This transition left BYD Auto as the sole owner of the brand after acquiring the remaining stake. Since then, Denza has experienced steady growth. In September 2024, the brand sold 10,299 vehicles, reflecting a 2.4% increase over the previous month. Cumulatively, from January to September 2024, Denza sold an impressive 90,193 vehicles.
This growth is noteworthy because it coincides with BYD’s full ownership and its commitment to releasing new vehicles. One such highly anticipated model is the "Denza N9", a full-size premium SUV first unveiled in China. The Denza N9 has been spotted internationally, including in London, where it was seen driving through the city. The N9 will be offered in two powertrain options: a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and a battery electric vehicle (BEV). Early reports suggest the N9 could surpass the Denza Z9 GT variant, which boasts a combined output of 952 horsepower. This raises the question: how powerful will the Denza N9 truly be?
