This is a cab view of the Shonan Monorail, which runs 6.6 km between Ofuna Station and Shonan Enoshima Station in Kanagawa Prefecture, from Ofuna Station to Shonan Enoshima Station. This line opened in 1970. It continues to run to this day without any extensions or removals.
There are two types of monorails: one where the train straddles the tracks, and one where the train hangs from the tracks. This line is the latter. Compared to the former, this method allows the line to be constructed without being affected by the terrain, but it is said to be less comfortable. In fact, even on this line, the tracks have many ups and downs, and the ride is reminiscent of an amusement park ride (which is why it's fun). Therefore, please be aware that there are many places where the image vibrates. (^^;
Like many Japanese railways, this line is used mostly by commuters, but also by tourists heading to Enoshima. (The terminus, Shonan Enoshima Station, is a few minutes' walk from Enoshima Station on the Enoshima Electric Railway, and Enoshima Island is also nearby.)
