The Florida State Seminoles had to battle hard to get their first win of the season, but did against the visiting Cal Golden Bears, 14-9. Trailing 9-7. D.J. Uiagalelei threw a clutch TD pass to Ja'Khi Douglas in the 4th quarter to give the Noles the lead. Uiagalelei finished the game 16-27 for 188 total yards with a TD and an interception in the win. Lawrance Toafili had a good day running the ball with 80 yards and a score on 17 carries. On defense, Patrick Payton led the way with 3 sacks and 3.5 tackles for loss for Mike Norvell's club. Fernando Mendoza had a good outing, completing 22-36 passes for 303 passing yards in the loss.
