Practice this and other Maths GCSE questions over at my website: https://mathskitchen.com/questions/tip/5ccc33e0db5bff096b9d24ab/?utm_source=YouTube&utm_medium=descriptionlink&utm_campaign=precentagesmental
In this video we look at finding percentages of an amount without using a calculator. By the end you'll be able to answer questions like 'find 37% of 128 without using a calculator'.
The first part of the video looks at percentages that are easy to find so, for example, to find:
1. 10% of something you divide it by 10.
2. 50% you divide by 2.
3. 25% you halve then halve again (same as dividing) by 4.
4. 5% you find 10% then halve it.
5. 1% you divide by 100
The second part of the video combines some of the above to find harder percentages.
So to find 15% of something you find 10% and then 5% and then add your two answers together.
To find 16% of something you could find 10% then 5% then 1% and then add those three answers together.
That's it! Have a go at some of the practice questions and keep working hard!
