Episode 7 of A Walking Tour is a rollercoaster. It’s the 31st of December, and I had big plans to film a New Year’s Eve episode. Instead, the day takes a strange turn. It starts with a free hotel breakfast that I review (because why not?), then I realise I’ve come down with swine flu. Still, I push through and head to Tonle Sap, a floating village about an hour from Siem Reap.
I talk about the incredible way people live on the water, adapting to the rising tides, while also rambling about whatever comes to mind on the journey there and back. By the end of the day, I’m too sick to keep going and call it a night early, skipping the New Year’s celebrations entirely. It’s messy, unfiltered, and real—a snapshot of travel that’s not always picture-perfect, but always an adventure.
