Camille Paglia talked about public arts and religion in America. In her remarks she talked about liberal and conservative attitudes toward the arts, education in the fine arts and humanities, and the role religion could play in a renaissance in American interest in the arts. She also talked about the history of culture and religion in America, the tradition of American music in the church, the influence of varying religious traditions on American popular culture and artistic expression found in contemporary society, as well as the impact of public controversy surrounding artistic exhibits and performances. She also answered questions from the audience.

The 2007 Colorado College Cornerstone Arts Lecture, titled “Religion and the Arts in America,” was sponsored by the Cornerstone Arts Lecture and the National Endowment for the Humanities Professorship and was held in Armstrong Theatre, inside Armstrong Hall.
