Did you know that it's a little known fact that you can propagate tomatoes from the suckers that the stem produces? We had no idea until recently, so that started us on a journey to attempt to over winter tomatoes in our greenhouse. We are having good results with the growing of our tomatoes that has allowed us to pull some suckers in an attempt to propagate them in potting soil mix and in water.
As January comes, we transplant our propagations from the mason jars of water to potting soil that has been kept in the greenhouse as to not cold shock the plants. The tomatoes seem to be rooting and thriving. Now only time will tell if they will produce.
We also operate a small business on the homestead. We make homemade, handcrafted soaps, shampoo bars, hair and beard products in addition to offering our pasture raised pork, lamb, and 100% raw honey. You can find out more about our products and ingredients by visiting our website at www.mimiandpoppysplace.com. There you can shop our products and sign up for our monthly newsletter that highlights a soap or ingredient, gives monthly updates about the homestead, and also lists the markets, festivals, and events we’ll be attending that month.
