Question! Are darts good in borderlands 2? No! But Bloons Tower Defense is the greatest game franchise of all time, as we all know. And the single greatest tower in BTD6 is obviously the wizard. So I’m going to try to beat Borderlands 2 as a dart monkey. And I mean just the dart monkey. So no crossbows, no juggernaut, no fan club. To be more specific, can I beat Borderlands 2 using only the dart? Darts are e-tech pistols that home in on enemies dealing 100% splash damage, and fun fact, they’re really bad. Picture yourself back in time for a moment, back when you first played Borderlands 2. You’ve just made it to sanctuary and Dr. Zed sends you on one of the deadliest quests a new player could stumble into. Killing Doc Mercy. You’ve never seen an enemy with a shield before, you don’t know how to handle it. But you manage to kill him. Dr Zed gives you another mission to kill 25 bandits with a garbage weapon, and after all of that, you get your reward. An E-Tech pistol, either a dart or a spiker. And that’s when all of us collectively found out that dart pistols are so bad you may as well actually be throwing darts at the enemies. Not even the real sharp ones. The magnet ones. So basically you may as well be throwing small rocks at the enemies. I don’t like darts, I don’t know if that was clear. Also I’m only using the impaler shield because that feels dart themed, and the heart of the ancients because that feels bloons tower defense themed. I started my adventure by picking Salvador for pretty much one reason only. Ammo regen. See dart monkeys never run out of darts, and neither does he. In theory. I started with a legendary gunzerker COM, but even when I switched to a hoarder build, I ran out of ammo constantly. You see, darts consume 2 ammo per shot, despite doing half the damage per shot of any pistol you’d even look at. Not that you can really look at the dart anyway. It’s so reflective it hurts my eyes, which brings up the most annoying thing about these. The muzzle flash from the darts is really painful, surviving the challenge without having a seizure is more difficult than actually beating the challenge, so I used a mod to play in 3rd person, which made it a lot more tolerable. Unfortunately… it didn’t exactly work? Yeah so 3rd person mode wasn’t what a reasonable person could call remotely functional. I tried my best throughout the run, but eventually I just decided to tolerate the flashing lights. Like you guys will hopefully tolerate this shameless plug! I’m almost at 100k subs on youtube. If I hit 100k, I will once again attempt the entire series 1 life when borderlands 4 comes out. With Boom Boom dead I made my way to Flynt, who may very well be the most difficult boss fight in the game. Is that a hot take? Is there anyone worse? I can’t think of anyone. Anyway, there were some areas where 3rd person didn’t work, but that didn’t really matter, because I’d need to have ammo to worry about not being able to shoot things. I was told Salvador doesn’t run out of ammo. I feel scammed. I want my money back. I had to just hide and wait for my ammo to come back, but then I had a great idea. Dying gives me a bunch of ammo, so I just did that… on purpose… I swear. That gave me just enough ammo to run past the enemies instead of shooting them, but then I found myself in a situation where I was forced to shoot them. It’s pretty tragic that the dart is so bad that in a looter shooter, shooting my loot is the worst thing I can do. However, shooting my loot made me think of a dnd character idea of a bard with a gun guitar, so at least one good thing came of this challenge. I’m not upset anymore.
