- Dealerships have zero power over you right now.
- Inventory levels are through the roof over 3M new vehicles over 2.25m used …120%
- Inventory are highest since the start of the pandemic… equivalent to an 84 day supply on all vehicles.
- The amount of carryover 24 models compared to 23 models last year is staggering…
- We are starting out the year with over 400K more vehicles on lots compared to last year… and nearly 1.4M more vehicles over the start of 2023… let that sink in.
- The greedy ones are still trying to hold on to those glorious pandemic pricing days. Where they could take full advantage of you the consumer. But they’re failing hard.
- Often times auto manufacturers will brag about the number of vehicles sold”delivered” in a given year… the key word is delivered. Handed off to a dealership or “sold” to a dealership isn’t the same as sold to a customer. It’s now the dealers burden.
- Best time to buy in 2025 will be between May and Aug… tax season, new cheese, carryover unit pricing will need to be slashed, most people are splurging on their planned family vacations with school out, avoid “end of year deals, tax write off purchase season… the frozen middle timeframe where there is minimal action. Dealers get desperate.
- Big discounts are happening now on vehicles that were previously marked up.
- Examples: Ford F150 and Bronco Raptors, even Raptor Rs… TRD Trimmed Toyotas, Trailhunter trims, Ram TRX Final Editions seen as low as $108K… $17K off MSRP. Now they’re $112-115K. Mercedes G63AMGs G wagons… Cadillac Escalades. Escalade Vs.
- Obviously many of these examples aren’t realistic for most folks but they do offer a clear indication of what the car market is doing. Kia Tellurides were often coming with markups between $5-10K. Now they’re discounted several thousand.
- People are learning that in many cases, the inflated price tags of modern vehicles just simply isn’t worth it.
- It’s worth keeping your older vehicle around.
- A lot of folks feel as though their older vehicles are made to a higher quality standard too.
- We see many auto manufacturers outsourced production to cheaper labor countries, while still hiking prices. The quality is no longer there. Tacoma…
- Many dealers were losing money month to month in 2024… Nissan and Ford leading the pack.
- Over 80 large franchise dealers closed their doors in 2024. Unprecedented amount of closures… their closure means they’ve struggled for more than a couple years.
- The greedy dealers will go bankrupt. Between the consumer being fed up with their tactics and banks refusing to lend inflated loans, they’ll flounder.
- Dealers are beginning to realize now that in order to stay afloat through 2025, they’ll need to cut their losses early on many models.
- So stay patient, wait until May, June, July and August.
- Don’t let any dealer haggle you, their inventory isn’t special -it’s just up the road a ways to see more of the same vehicle.
- You don’t “have to finance through the dealership” you can pay cash or bring your own financing.
- Refuse their bogus high priced protection plans and extended warranty options. They can be purchased for much cheaper while cutting out the needless middle man (aka the dealership).
