Carl and I met at a community center in Basin, Montana in 2023 while we were both riding the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route. We became fast friends and rode several days together on the route.
Then in 2024, Carl rowed the entire inside passage from Skagway, Alaska to Sidney, British Columbia. When he was reaching the end of his journey, he messaged me and asked if I’d like to plan a bike trip together, so he’d have another adventure to look forward to. I said of course!
I planned a route starting in Tucson, Arizona that we could ride on gravel bikes. I avoided higher elevations as much as possible in case there was snow, since we were riding in early December. We’d ride for 6 days, camping most of the way. This is the story of our adventure!
