The Carpenters were formed in 1969 by Karen Carpenter and Richard Carpenter. They were active throughout the 1970s and early 1980s, known for their soft, melodic pop songs with Karen’s warm, distinctive voice. Some of their most famous hits include Yesterday Once More, Close to You, and Top of the World.
Sadly, Karen Carpenter passed away in 1983 due to heart failure caused by complications from anorexia, at the age of 32. Despite her passing, The Carpenters' music remains beloved worldwide and continues to be a classic.
