Hand-carving a coffee scoop using traditional tools like an axe and a knife. No power tools used. No talking.
I started the carving process in Hawaii by axing the spoon blank. I continued the knife work back in Alaska.

1. What type of wood is it?
Milo aka Pacific Rosewood- it was a joy to carve and I really like the grain patterns especially the contrast between the heartwood and the sapwood.

About 3 hours- 1 hour to axe, 1 hour to do rough cuts with the knife, 1 hour to finish.
