Sweep frequency response analysis is an advanced testing technique that accurately depicts the mechanical condition of the transformer by detecting changes in the assembly of windings, core and even insulation problems when a diagnostic measurement are compared to a reference reading. The analysis is mainly visual and supported by assessment methods from the standards. To be able to identify the condition of a transformer from a test and its comparison, it is fundamental to understand the regions of the response, the different failure modes and their responses. The best way to achieve a good understanding of the different aspects of the analysis is by looking at real results and how they compare to the responses from the failure modes or the analysis recommendations from the standards.
In this case study session, several real-life examples will be used to illustrate the analysis process and how to use the different tools from the standards and the software to achieve a thorough analysis of sweep frequency response results.
