With a couple hours to spare, I shoot down to the local river for a quick cast. A shore jigging rod is a great tool to have, convenient and is small enough to transport easily in the car, bus, or carry.
I am using the same fishing method I would use on the boat, but being much shallower you must constantly make the jig move.
These little jack jigs are ‘S’ shaped so they wiggle when retrieved and/or “pitched” aggressively, but also centre weighted so they wobble as they fall.
A fast pitch and pause enables the jig to get best action, but also a fast retrieve will see pelagics chase it.
A great few hours to release some of life’s pressures and a good reset for the mind and body.
