As The Snow Melts - In this episode of my Continental Divide Trail Thru Hike Documentary, I hike from Chama to Pagosa Springs. It's a 78 mile hike over 3.5 days. This section passes through the South San Juan Wilderness and the Rio Grande National Forest, where the last known grizzly bear in Colorado was killed in 1979. It's by far the toughest section yet, with an average elevation of 11,600', more elevation gain than New mexico, steep slopes with snow, postholing, unstable snow bridges with water running underneath, fields of cold standing water and lots of mud. However, it's the most scenic section yet with endless mountain views. Welcome to Colorado!
