Hello everyone!
In this video we are sharing one of our natural favorite tool: 🌱 ASPRELLA or Horse Tail, as we call in English.
What is Asprella? Why it is important?
This is a prehistoric grass, that still now it is easy to find close to water pond. Cremona, in Italy, is very close to the river Po and the region is full of water ponds. Asprella was very common grass and violinmakers were using it , the same way we are using it now, to act as sandpaper on wood!
The amazing thing of this old grass is that it not only smooth surface like a fine sand paper will do, but it leaves a very shine wood under it. Sometimes after using sand paper we do have a little bit of a foggy finishing. Well, with Asprella (Horsetail) this is not happening and I highly recommend you to try it.
Hope you are enjoying this video and getting good insight to make your violinmaking journey better and better!
Back to work and lot of love
