Join me as we explore the profound verses 36-37 of Chapter 2 of the Bhagavad Gita. In this video, we delve into the true meaning of "swadharma" and how it transcends societal roles and external pressures. We explore the implications of acting according to your true nature, regardless of outcome, and the path towards self-realization, or atmabodha.

VERSE 36
अवाच्यवादांश्च बहून्वदिष्यन्ति तवाहिताः ।
निन्दन्तस्तव सामर्थ्यं ततो दुःखतरं नु किम् ॥३६॥

avācya-vādāṁś ca bahūn vadiṣyanti tavāhitāḥ
nindantas tava sāmarthyaṁ tato duḥkhataraṁ nu kim

Your enemies will insult you with slanderous words, condemning your prowess. Alas, what could be more painful than that?

VERSE 37
हतो वा प्राप्स्यसि स्वर्गं जित्वा वा भोक्ष्यसे महीम् ।
तस्मादुत्तिष्ठ कौन्तेय युद्धाय कृतनिश्चयः ॥३७॥

tasmād uttiṣṭha kaunteya yuddhāya kṛta-niścayaḥ

O son of Kuntī, if you are killed you will attain the higher planets, and if you are victorious you will enjoy the Earth. Therefore, be confident of your success – stand up and fight!

There’s a discussion going on regarding whether or not there are ways to avoid wasting our days. I’m trying to make sure those things are done, but it's not easy. Every day seems more important than the last, so it's essential not to let the days slip away. For that, my wish is that we all strive for that goal. That’s why I ask those who don’t usually join us to join regularly, and those who just happen to drop in, use this as an opportunity to make it part of your lives. The gist of our Sanatan Dharma can be found in the Gita. It is timeless, and is not fixed to any specific caste, but refers to the purpose of our existence.

The Gita tells us how to utilize our time to best advantage. Sanatan dharma, which is mentioned in the Gita, is a concept based on truth, which has no beginning, end, or middle. It's what was, what is, and what will be. Even if everything was destroyed, Sanatan dharma would remain. It is not the province of any particular religious belief or group, but is eternal, everlasting, and applies to all. It existed in the past and will continue to exist.

What we call dharma is the intrinsic nature within us and our innate purpose. The purpose of each element of our being is essential to understand. If one doesn’t understand the value of something, it doesn't benefit them. The same can be said of our spiritual nature. We are like diamonds, but without learning how to polish it, it holds no value to us.

So we need to study Gita. Our real dharma is not about how many eyes, limbs, or senses we have. It’s the reason we have them at all. To learn this, we need to consult the Vedas, where many wise people recorded their findings and passed them down for generations. While we can’t master all this in one lifetime, or even in several, this doesn’t mean we shouldn’t continue to practice and to learn, which can bring change within our minds and awaken our discernment, teaching us the true meaning and purpose of our various parts.

Key Points:

The importance of engaging in meaningful spiritual practices.

The concept of Sanatan dharma as truth and how it relates to the Gita.

The importance of understanding one's swadharma, or true nature.

The need to utilize the spiritual diamond, through knowledge and reflection.

The comparison of our earthly journey to one of continuous roles to perform and what we can learn through those roles.
