So I know I said you'd never catch me riding 200 miles (320km) on the longest day, from Sunset to Sunrise, but after being inspired by last years CTS South riders, and feeling kind of a fraud for crossing the finish line with them. I decided I'd enter, but of course, the route would have to be 100% new roads if you know anything about me by now, it's my love of exploring on my bike. So I entered the 205 mile ride, Chase the Sun North, which ended up being on my own for a lone adventure. Whitley Bay to Ayr in Scotland was the draw, my first time into Scotland would be under my own steam. You knew it was going to be an incredible day, when you greeted with a magnificent sunrise. All that was now required was pedaling for an entire day, trying to beat the sunset on the coast of the UK. All that was required, was me cycling further than I ever have before, which was a thought that terrified me and left me with several disturbed nights sleep, the closer the event got. Could I actually ride across a country, in a day!
