“Chic… They’re super special to me and absolutely the best!”

Chic is one of those legendary bands that broke out of the disco scene and made a massive impact on music history. Their sound is pure groove—simple but so addictive. The magic is in Nile Rodgers’ signature “chicken scratch” guitar riffs and Bernard Edwards’ super groovy basslines. The moment you hear their music, your body just can’t help but move.
But Chic’s music isn’t just about disco hits. It’s timeless. Their influence spans generations, inspiring artists across genres. For example, everyone knows the bassline from “Good Times” was sampled in the hip-hop classic “Rapper’s Delight,” but their reach goes way beyond that. From modern electronic to funk and house, Chic’s DNA is everywhere. If you dig into the roots of Daft Punk or French house, you’ll find Chic right at the core.
Chic’s sound is more than disco—it’s “timeless funk.” I think it’s essential for every new generation of music fans to discover them. Their minimalist yet polished arrangements, soulful vocals, and infectious rhythms make their music as fresh today as it was back then. Honestly, you can’t really talk about music history without knowing Chic. Just listen to one of their tracks, and you’ll feel the groove instantly—it’s unreal.
In this video, I’ve remixed some of Chic’s biggest disco hits, along with two classics from Sister Sledge’s We Are Family (1979)—an album heavily produced by Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards. To wrap it up, there’s also a remix of Daft Punk’s global hit “Get Lucky.” Fun fact: Daft Punk admired Nile Rodgers so much that they personally asked him to contribute his signature guitar sound to their album. They recorded together in 2012 at the legendary Electric Lady Studios in New York, blending the heritage of disco with a fresh, futuristic vibe. It was a turning point that brought Nile Rodgers’ timeless sound back into the spotlight and reintroduced disco to a new generation in a totally innovative way.
So here it is—a DJ set packed with the best tracks from the golden age of disco, funk, and soul from the ’70s and ’80s. Get ready for a non-stop mix of iconic tunes that still feel as fresh and energetic as ever. Let the timeless vibes take you away!
For this 【CHIC special】 set, my goal was to strike a balance: staying true to the original songs while adding a modern touch. I didn’t go overboard with effects, but I did slightly raise the BPM and layered in some digital drum sounds to freshen things up. The aim? To recreate the emotions you’d feel hearing these tracks at real time.
