Video Not Working? Fix It Now

In this video series, we investigate Chicago area antiquarians and early archeologists, those that set the stage, for good or ill, for modern archaeology in northeastern Illinois.

In this video, we explore the life of Albert Scharf, from early life in Germany and north-central Illinois, to his move to Chicago after his father's death, his possible stay at the Elgin Insane Asylum, and his re-emergence as a noted Chicago Antiquarian in the early 1900s. We also discuss his famous map of Native American trails & villages in the Chicago Area, as well as his set of maps and manuscripts kept in the Chicago History Museum archives.
