This was my first attempt to cover Kyoto.
Kyotango City in Kyoto Prefecture is dotted with abandoned villages over a wide area.
Among them, Chikaraishi has a tragic history in which a fire almost completely destroyed the village overnight, and the incident ended the village's long history.
However, in 2018, former residents erected a monument at the site of the village.
And at the end of the monument is.
"I hope that the time for the revival of the settlement will come, although it may be further down the road in the great-grandchildren's generation."
The last part of the monument reads.
This may be an expression of the former residents' wish that the history of the village will continue into the future.
During this period, mountain villages like this one were disappearing one after another, not only in Kyotango, but all over Japan.
Even if there had been no fire, Rikishi might have had a similar history.
However, we, the future generation, must start by knowing that the people who lived in this small village certainly existed. I hope this video will help you to know about the existence of this place.
