Basic Overview
• Geographical Location: Located in Xinjichuan Town, 40 kilometers northwest of Long County, Baoji City, Shaanxi Province, at the foot of Jingfu Mountain in the southern section of Liupan Mountain at the junction of Shaanxi and Gansu.
• Historical evolution: It started in the Spring and Autumn Period, was built in the Western Han Dynasty, and flourished in the Jin and Yuan Dynasties. It is the "Longmen ancestral temple" of the Quanzhen Sect of Taoism. Yin Xi, a doctor of the Zhou Dynasty, Lou Jing of the Han Dynasty, and Sun Simiao of the Tang Dynasty all lived in seclusion here. Qiu Chuji of the Yuan Dynasty lived here and founded the Longmen School.
• Geomorphic features: The Ordovician gravel limestone is exposed, and there are many karst caves, forming a magnificent landform with uneven vertical and horizontal lines and half-walls. Canyons, waterfalls, flowing springs, cold pools, and secluded caves are scattered throughout the mountains.
Main attractions
• Hunyuan Peak: Hunyuan Pavilion is located at the highest point of Hunyuan Peak, with an altitude of 1,800 meters and about 130 meters from the ground of the Taoist temple. It is fully built with brackets in the air and enshrines the Hunyuan Patriarch.
• Qiuzu Cave: Located behind Qiuzu Tower, it is where Qiu Chuji practiced Taoism. There are grinding stones with Qiu Chuji's relics in the cave, and the three words "Changchun Cave" are engraved on the cave wall.
• Dingxin Peak: Located at the west end of the Sigong Temple, the peak is isolated and looks like a cut. Only a few people can sit on the top of the peak. It is opposite the Qiuzu Tower. It is also known as Xianglu Peak and Wangshan Peak.
• Heihutan: It is a deep stone pool under the Jianyun Bridge at the entrance of the back mountain. It is about 5 meters in diameter and 1 meter deep. The rocks beside the pool are jagged like tigers.
• Queen Mother Palace and Rope Ladder: On the west side of the cliff of Longmen Cave, the statue of Queen Mother of the West is enshrined. The hall has three pillars, high in the middle and low on the sides. The structure is symmetrical. The whole hall is hollowed out of the wall. There is a more than 10-meter-long iron rope hanging ladder under the hall platform.
