Chocolate & Badam Barfi
(Makes bite sized 16-20 pieces)
Ingredients
- Almonds - 250 gm
- Milk Powder - 1/2 cup
- Cocoa Powder - 1/4 cup
- Cardamom Powder (Elaichi) - 1 tsp
- Water - 1/2 cup
- Jaggery Powder - 3/4 cup
- Ghee - 1 tbsp
For Garnish
- Silver Vark
- Toasted almonds, cut into halves
Method-
1. Grind the almonds to a fine powder.
2. Transfer the almond powder to a bowl.
3. Add the milk powder, cocoa powder & cardamom powder. Mix well and set aside.
4. In a pan, heat water and jaggery powder until the jaggery melts completely.
5. Cook the jaggery mixture on high heat until it reaches the right consistency. To test this, drop a small amount of the mixture into a bowl of water at regular intervals. When the drop crystallizes, it's ready.
6. At this stage, immediately add the dry ingredients to the jaggery mixture.
7. Add ghee and then mix well.
8. Pour the mixture into a lined aluminum tin, spreading it evenly and smoothing the top.
9. Apply silver vark on top, and let it cool completely before cutting.
10. Once cooled, remove the barfi from the tray and cut it into your desired shape and size.
11. Garnish with toasted halved almonds and enjoy!
