Here's the next episode of Chordplay with The Chords Of Rick Derringer. I've had a number of requests to feature some music from the legendary Rick Derringer and to be honest, I learned a lot during the research/prep side of things and had a lot of fun putting this one together - so let's dive in!
Rick Derringer is a guitarist/songwriter/producer of significant importance and influence in the grand scheme of rock music dating all the way back to the mid-1960s. He hit the scene with The McCoys and together they released their huge hit 'Hang On Sloopy.' Fast-forward to the early 1970s and Rick penned 'Rock And Roll Hoochie Koo' to kickstart his solo career, which opened the door to explore the mountain of important/famous session and studio work he tackled from the 1970s all the way to today.
The chord-based ideas/riffs in this lesson were pulled from Rick's essential 1970s output, including a number of songs from the albums All American Boy, Derringer, and Sweet Evil. The songs included here are mostly lesser-known fan favorites from Rick, such as 'Keep On Makin' Love,' 'Loosen Your Grip,' 'Hangin' By The Pool,' 'Sailor,' and 'Let's Make It,' not to mention a nod to his eternal classic 'Rock And Roll Hoochie Koo.'
