Shigmo is considered the oldest tradition of Goa. It celebrates our ancestors and the culture they built for their villages. In the month of March, when the entire India celebrates Holi, the lands of rural Goa turn into a playground for our ancestors and spirits. One such bizarre yet fascinating ritual happens in Zharme-Sattari which is said to be performed as an atonement for the misdeeds that once happened in the village. A few people were mistakenly killed and their spirits started haunting the village. To appease them some strange rituals came into existence
