His colorful depictions of horses and farmhands in the landscapes of Provence and the Côte d’Azur in the South of France demonstrate a keen observation of movement and light. Similar to the techniques of Gustave Courbet and Nicolas de Staël, Jequel uses a paint-laden palette knife to apply thick swathes of color to his canvases. Born on January 16, 1935 in Ganges, France, he is largely self-taught. The artist’s first solo exhibition took place in 1979 at the Galerie d’Art de la Place Beauvau in Paris, followed by group shows in the Unites States, Japan, and Spain throughout the 1980s. Jequel lives and works in Marseilles, France. By https://www.artnet.com/artists/christian-jequel/ Images: Google - Pinterest Music: "Final Reckoning" - Asher Fulero. Youtube Audio Library
