The Christmas Market in Wroclaw is very popular among residents and tourists. It experiences a true siege every weekend. If you plan to visit it during the Christmas and New Year period, we remind you of the opening hours and days when it will be closed.
The Christmas Market 2024 in Wroclaw will last until January 7, 2025 - including New Year's Eve and the Feast of the Three Kings. It is open daily from 10:00 to 21:00. However, there are exceptions.
Christmas Market during the Christmas and New Year period
December 24 (Christmas Eve) - market closed,
December 25 (Christmas Day) - market closed,
December 26 (Second Day of Christmas) - market open from 13:00,
December 27-30 - market open at normal hours - from 10:00 to 21:00,
December 31 (New Year's Eve) - stalls with industrial goods open until 17:00, food and drinks open until 02:00 in the night (January 1, 2025),
January 1 (New Year) - market closed.

The theme of illumination
In the seasons of 2020/2021, 2021/2022, and 2022/2023, the main theme of the illumination consists of elements drawn from old Polish Christmas tradition - podłaźniczka, światy (balls), stars, and chains - in various arrangements and colors composed in nearly 300 decorations.
The current concept of decorating the most important squares and streets of the city during Christmas continues the tradition of Christmas illumination started in 1996.
In each subsequent season, we try to expand the scope of this initiative, enriching the form with new technical novelties and arranging them in new combinations. We constantly monitor solutions used in other cities and observe new trends on the decoration market.
The Linea Architecture Studio, creating seasonal concepts for Christmas illumination in Wroclaw, closely cooperates with the Coordinator for City Visual Decoration, who evaluates, among other things, the aesthetics of Christmas gardens and markets, thus allowing for the achievement of a harmonious and consistent overall effect.
Location of decorations
The illumination concept covers the area of the old town, bordered to the south by the city moat, to the north by the WZ route, as well as the areas of Ostrow Tumski and the square near the Centennial Hall.
It was decided to leave some elements unchanged, partially or completely modify some, change selected compositions, and add elements in new locations. Additional elements include spatial compositions, for example light tunnels that visitors can enter and take photos.
Leasing instead of buying
Several years ago, we decided to lease Christmas decorations, as it is the most economical solution considering the high costs of purchasing decorations, storing them, and necessary repairs. An additional advantage is the possibility of renting new decorations to propose different arrangements to the residents.
Christmas decorations built from hundreds of thousands of light points do not consume much energy. The illumination ordered last year is based 100% on LED light sources, which are energy-efficient and durable. They also provide high light intensity and interesting visual effects.
