The problem with riding your bike is the chain is always going to get dirty and/or dry. It obviously needs cleaning. Most people will decide to over clean it with some sort of degreaser and then re-lubricate with too much oil. There is a much better way to clean your chain and lubricate it at the same time. It's super fast, only taking a couple of minutes meaning you can spend more of your valuable time out on the road. You can stop wasting your time, money and the environment by doing this routine regularly.
