In this week’s garden video I show you lots of garden jobs I managed to get done in between all the rain we had last weekend.
I’ve cut back all the prickly long blackberry canes which overhang into my garden over my neighbour’s fence.
I’ve drastically pruned my climbing ‘Santana’ Rose and I’m going to have one last ditch attempt at getting it to climb up my west facing wall. If that’s not successful I will replant it elsewhere in the garden.
Most of my tulips were flattened in the rain and so I’ve been round and removed all those that are no longer standing upright.
I show you how my Dryopteris Affinis and Polystichum Polyblepharum Ferns in Shady Corner are doing since I cut all the old fronds off about a month ago.
I have redesigned my tiny flower border for the very last time and now my painted snail is sitting on a bed of artificial grass alongside some pebbles and an unknown species of fungus!!
Woodland Courtyard has a few new additions, namely a 2 foot tall wooden mushroom carved from a tree, plus some other trinkets such as little birds, a China mushroom, plus hedgehog and bird flowerpots.
I found a 3-Tier Metal Plant Stand on Amazon which is 34”/84cm tall and each of the 3 shelves can hold 44lbs/20kg. I have painted my old wooden “Lazy Susan” and am using that as a table top and that’s where my new Acer Palmatum (Japanese Maple) ‘Bloodgold’ will live.

Next I show you how my new compost system is going, I’m very pleased at being able to re-use all my garden waste and now it’s in a far more accessible spot than it was before when it was all tucked away behind the Cabin.
For the first time ever I have cleared out the garage gutters which were completely filled with weeds. That’s usually a job Richard does but I’m trying to save him the trouble. Very messy, but surprisingly easy (not to mention quite satisfying) to do.
Finally I am moving my Climbing Honeysuckle - Lonicera Serotina - from behind the Trachycarpus where it’s been unhappily struggling for the past 2 or even 3 years, and replanting it in the smaller of my two obelisks in my Fountain Garden.
I think that’s it! Oh, and I also managed to weed 4 out of my 7 weeding areas.
