I visited parkland west of Melbourne known as Cobbledick's Ford Reserve, with my DJI Pocket 3 for the video, and my Zoom M2 MicTrak for the sound.
The Zoom M2 is a dual ADC 32 bit float recorder which has no inputs, but it is equipped with a pair of good quality mic capsules. It is said to have the same internal components as the Zoom F3 recorder which has an excellent reputation. Using the M2 is very simple - turn it on, press record, and that's it. No level setting required. It's just a mic that records, able to capture sounds from close to silence through to the threshold of pain.
Most of the audio clips in this upload had their gain increased 30 to 40dB when editing, as the scenes were so quiet. The location is often almost silent - just some distant birdsong and the sounds of the river when you get close to it. I only saw two other visitors in the whole park when I was there - one of which you will see and hear with her dog in the video!
