Behind every smartphone, tablet or console, there is a key mineral: coltan. Eighty percent of its reserves are in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where its extraction has triggered conflicts, child exploitation, and has encouraged the emergence and existence of different armed paramilitary and mercenary groups. In this report, we explore the harsh reality of coltan mines, the impact of its trade in the region and the involvement of certain countries and governments in this business.
📌 Did you know where coltan comes from? What can we do to change this reality? Leave us your opinion in the comments.
