Here I finish the Mojotone 5E3 amplifier - a clone of the 1959 Fender Deluxe. I faced several issues during its build, most of which were greeted with profanity - you can tell by the serious tone of voice you hear throughout the video. Still, I found solutions to these problems and trucked on. The result is an awesome sounding guitar amp.
All valves are new old stock - 2 x GE 6V6GTA, GE 12AY7, Sylvania 12AX7, and a 5Y3GT made by some US manufacturer I never heard of - most likely rebranded.
I made a couple of minor modifications such as having the fuse on the active side of mains following the power switch, as well as making the ground switch into a standby instead. Seriously, ground switches are death traps waiting to happen and should be avoided. Use the earth pin on the mains for the chassis, like a wise person that likes remaining alive.
I demonstrate the amp with my 1975 Les Paul Deluxe with P90 pickups, through a cabinet loaded with four Eminence Tonkerlite speakers.
I may, at some point, demonstrate this amp with other guitars but don't hold your breath as your face will turn blue and you may die from a lack of oxygen.
A few people have commented about the hum and advised that it is likely a poor earth connection. Let me assure you that it is the P90 pickups in my Les Paul. P90's are single coils, not humbuckers, and humming is just part of it - like a Strat or Tele.
