本セミナーでは、バングラデシュのタリク・カリム大使（バングラデシュ独立大学ベンガル湾研究センター所長／シンガポール国立大学南アジア研究所特別客員研究員）を招き、最近のバングラデシュの政治的混乱とそれがもたらす国際的関心について議論しました。特に、ベンガル湾の地政学的な重要性と、バングラデシュが南アジアと東南アジアの協力の媒介者として果たす役割に焦点を当てました。
セミナーでは、カリム大使による基調講演の後、エマドゥル・イスラム上席研究員との対話が行われ、参加者からの質疑応答も実施されました。国内情勢の不確実性やミャンマーの状況を踏まえ、日本がインド洋地域において果たすべき役割についての意見交換が行われ、参加者にとって貴重な視点が提供されました。
This seminar featured Ambassador Tariq Karim of Bangladesh (Director of the Bay of Bengal Research Center at Bangladesh Independent University and Special Visiting Scholar at the South Asia Institute of the National University of Singapore). He discussed the recent political turmoil in Bangladesh and the international attention it has garnered, focusing particularly on the geopolitical significance of the Bay of Bengal and Bangladesh’s role as a mediator in fostering cooperation between South Asia and Southeast Asia.
The event included a keynote address by Ambassador Karim, followed by a dialogue with Dr. Emadul Islam, and a Q&A session with attendees. The discussions addressed the uncertainties surrounding the domestic situation in Bangladesh and the ongoing challenges in Myanmar, as well as the role Japan could play in the Indian Ocean region, offering valuable perspectives for all participants.
