Converting Bachmann Consolidations, or "Connies", to AMS Couplers for Improved Scale Operation
This week we are putting couplers on all three Bachmann outside frame consolidations better known as "Connie". Last week we looked over several coupler options for couplers and decided on AMS Couplers.
The conversion is fairly straightforward. It does require cutting onto both the front and back of the locomotive and drilling several holes. As we are converting the non-functional "Cut Handles" to functioning the rear handles need to be totally rebuilt from scratch using brass rod silver soldered together. The front cut bars will work as is but require adding loops of wire to join the coupler locking pin to the cut handle. The rear will be linked with a small jewelry chain.
The AMS couplers look. great after painting and work perfectly, just as on the prototype. SCORE!!!!
