Currently, fuel is used for vehicle propulsion engines, namely electric, petrol and diesel engines.
For two-wheelers, almost all of them use electric and recently petrol-powered engines.
Do you know why diesel engines are rarely or even avoided as a power source for motorbikes?
The automotive industry relies on diesel from passenger cars to heavy duty trucks.
Gasoline engines are usually intended for small vehicles, such as motorbikes and cars.
However, in most instances, motorbikes run on petrol or electricity.
In fact, there have been a number of manufacturers who produced motorbikes with diesel engine support.
However, in the end most of them gave up because the market was almost non-existent.
In the past there were diesel motorbikes from Royal Enfield, and military motorbike experiments.
There are two reasons why diesel engines are not popular in two-wheeled vehicles. First, related to production costs.
The production cost of this diesel engine is more expensive, automatically a motorbike with a diesel engine will be much more expensive than a petrol engine.
The next reason is that the power produced is not proportional to the weight of the motorbike.
Although diesel engines can produce greater torque, motorbikes used on the highway require more horsepower than torque
Diesel engines tend to have a compression ratio of 24:1 so it is much different than the compression ratio of petrol engines (11:1).
Thus, diesel engines must be larger and made of heavier materials to handle these high compression levels.
A high compression ratio means diesel engines tend to produce more noise and vibration than petrol engines.
Gasoline engines, with a low compression ratio, produce minimal sound and vibration.
and you know what Indonesian people prioritize is cheap fuel prices, even with just 1 liter they hope to be able to tour from Sabang to Merauke.
Well, diesel engines on motorbikes provide the answer, namely economical and cheap
and it turns out there are several motorbikes with handsome and classic designs that use diesel engines
It can even travel up to 100 km in 1 liter, which can be said to be Pertamina's enemy and the king of touring
Read to the end and choose which motorbike suits your taste
